Speak up for Ovarian Cancer Research.

Everyone knows someone they would like to silence - for a few minutes, an hour or even a day and on 23 September, this can become a reality.

'Play the Silent Card' is an initiative created by NAB to raise awareness for the Ovarian Cancer Research Foundation (OCRF) and one of Australia's most aggressive silent killers - ovarian cancer.

Ovarian cancer currently claims the life of one Australian woman every ten hours. Mortality rates continue to be so high because there is no early detection test, which means by the time the cancer is discovered, it is often too late.

As Founding Partner of the OCRF, NAB is committed to raising funds to aid in the development of an early detection test.

Showing your support is easy!

Simply purchase a set of 'Silent Cards' and buy yourself a little quiet time or take the 'Silence Yourself' challenge on 23 September and rally your mates to raise funds.

THANK YOU! PLAY THE SILENT CARD RAISES OVER $35,000 FOR OVARIAN CANCER.29 September 2011

An amazing $35,000 has been raised for ovarian cancer research from Australians ‘Playing the Silent Card’ on Friday 23 September.

Whether you silenced yourself or a loud mouth mate, we hope you had some fun while raising funds for a very good cause. All proceeds will go direct to the OCRF to aid research into the development of an early detection test for ovarian cancer.

Several well-known Australians including Garry Lyon, Andrew Gaze, Joel Selwood, Kate Langbroek, Dave O’Neil, Raelene Boyle, Howard Sattler, Graham Cornes and Haley and Nathan Bracken supported the campaign by challenging themselves to be quiet and rallying to silence colleagues and loved ones.

CEO and co-founder of the OCRF, Liz Heliotis was delighted with the outcome stating “The OCRF extends their gratitude to principle partner NAB for another successful and empowering community campaign in 2011. The volume of support for Play the Silent Card has been deafening, allowing the OCRF to take an incredibly strong step forward towards greater community awareness of ovarian cancer as a silent disease,” said Liz.

“It is extremely humbling that the entire NAB platform across the width and breadth of Australia embraces these campaigns and ensures the OCRF maintains it's position as a national research body to prosper vital research into this insidious disease,” she continued.

Again, thank you for supporting NAB’s inaugural Play the Silent Card campaign. We will be back bigger and better next year and we look forward to having you involved!
